5 Personal Development Books that will change your life

I am a personal development junkie, as some would say. I have been reading it off and on since I was a teenager, but have been heavily into it the past couple years.

Some of my very first books were Celestine Prophecy and The Secret, I guess I always felt connected to it, to know more and to learn and grow. In recent years, since becoming a mom and starting my own business, the need for growth became even stronger…My focus has been to grow into the best version of myself and this has led me on a personal growth journey!

Over the past two years I have read and listened to many books! I started with reading books, I love holding a book in my hand, but in time I found that I was able to keep focused and get through them a lot faster with the audio versions. I’m a busy full-time mom with a business which means I have to multi task! Audiobooks and cleaning, dog walks, etc… go perfectly hand in hand.

I feel that most books that I read, have made an impact on me in some way…they all add up, they all teach you a little something…But these 5 are some of my Favourites!

1. The Universe Has Your Back by Gabby Bernstein

gabbyThis Book is definitely my #1 pick, and believe it or not was my first real introduction to Gabby Bernstein. It literally came to me when I needed it most and I have recommended this book endlessly and everybody seems to love it.

Why I loved it?

I loved her way of storytelling and relating. Through this book I learned to let go a little of the control I tried to have on everything in my life and allow the Universe some room to take over, to trust that the universe has a plan. During the time reading the book and ever since i have felt very guided and I feel that this reconnected me with this lost part of myself!

I find this book has something in it for everyone and speaks to you whatever your life situation may be. Definite Must Read, whatever your situation! I have both hard copy for lots of highlighting as well as the Audible narrated by Gabby, which was incredible!

2. Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod

miracleThis book was also pretty life changing for me!

Why I loved it?

This book teaches you the importance of mindset and starting your day right. How many of you start your day by hitting the snooze button, followed by looking at emails or social media, followed by a whole lot of stress and chaos just trying to get out the door in the morning! This book teaches you the daily habits of successful and more importantly happy people. When a mentor that I very much look up to told me that he follows these principles everyday, I knew I had to read the book, and what I learnt from it has made a profound impact on me!

3. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

big-magicWhy I loved it?

Well first off, I just love Elizabeth Gilbert, I connect with her, I love her style of writing. This topic, Creative living beyond Fear was tackled beautifully.

I love how she shares that we are all creative as well as how we must handle “Fear”, that voice in our head that tries to keep us safe and play small. By the end of this book I felt so much lighter and ready to create!

I do have both the hard copy as well as the Audible , Elizabeth Gilbert narrates it perfectly, you will hang on her every word.

4. Light is The New Black by Rebecca Campbell

lightI read this book about a year ago and it really spoke to me. This book is about finding your souls purpose. My book is heavily dog-eared and highlighted and it is the kind of book I go back to every so often and always delivers the perfect timely message.

It’s full of inspiring quotes and messages about listening to your inner callings. If you need someone to shine the light on you and help you find your purpose, this book is a great place to start!

5. You’re A Badass by Jen Sincero

badassLastly, is Jen Sincero’s You’re a Badass. This book is definitely on the lighter more fun side of personal development, but it’s also a book and audible I find myself often coming back to!

It’s easy to take yourself a little too seriously, especially in the personal development world…and though the author talks about many of the same principles you learn in many of the other books out there, Jen Sincero has a super fun and brazen way of giving you that much-needed push or kick in the butt, of making you laugh at yourself and then giving you the confidence to take on the world.

If you are a beginner into the Personal Development world, I would definitely recommend starting with this book!
